Extensions and Transfers

Self-Paced Courses

If you feel that you cannot complete the course in the six-month course completion period, you may request a single, three-month extension. An extension requires a written request submitted seven business days prior to the end of your six-month course completion period, an additional fee (of $100), and approval from our office. Send your written request and check (payable to the University of Illinois) to Online & Continuing Education, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, 901 West University Avenue, Suite 201, Urbana, IL 61801. If you wish to pay by credit card, please e-mail our office at selfpaced@illinois.edu for payment information.

Note that this additional fee is not covered by scholarships. Your request will be reviewed, and you will be notified. If your request is not approved, the fee will be refunded.

For information about extensions on NetMath courses please visit the NetMath website.

Credit Transfers to Other Institutions

The credits that you earn through our courses normally transfer to other institutions on a basis equal to credits earned on the U of I campus. However, officials at other colleges and universities must determine which courses will be accepted at their institutions. Be certain to verify in advance whether the course you have selected will be accepted for credit and/or applied to degree requirements at another institution.

Course Transfers

Once enrolled in a self-paced course, you are allowed to transfer only once to another self-paced course and only if the transfer request is received within two months of your original enrollment date. Please note that this is not possible with a NetMath or Math Teacher Link course. A transfer fee of $20 will be assessed, and you will be charged $12 per lesson from the original course that you submitted to the program. In addition, any difference in tuition charges must be paid. Refunds will not be given for lower tuition charges for the new course.
